Dotinurad is a next-generation urate transporter 1 (URAT1) inhibitor for the treatment of gout flares and tophi in second-line patients refractory to allopurinol. The drug was approved in Japan in 2020 and has since been approved in China, the Philippines, and Thailand, where it has helped more than 2 million patients achieve improved urate control and reduce the burden of gout while demonstrating an excellent real-world safety profile. Crystalys is now developing dotinurad in the United States and is conducting two pivotal Phase III trials to support regulatory approval.
